Robert Lee “Bobby” Brooks

Robert Lee “Bobby” Brooks, age 86, of Hays, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society of Hays.

Born on March 9, 1940, in Chanute, Kansas, to Marguerite Hunter, Bobby lost his mother during childbirth. He and his older brother lived with their grandparents until he was five, after which he moved to Winfield, Kansas, where he attended kindergarten. At 18, he relocated to Parsons, Kansas, for a few years before returning to Winfield. In 1975, at the age of 35, Bobby moved to Hays, where he became part of the DSNWK day services supported employment program. He worked in laundry, food services, and janitorial maintenance, and found great joy in group outings, bowling, watching television, bicycling, and shopping.

Bobby faced a battle with colon cancer and underwent surgery in 2011. He became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society of Hays in 2021, where he remained until his passing.

He is survived by his DSNWK family and staff.
