Robert L. McClary
June 26, 1934— March 5, 2026
Kennewick, WA
Robert L. (Bob) McClary was born on June 26, 1934, in Spokane, Washington, to William and Esther McClary. Much of his childhood was spent with his maternal grandparents, Henry and Hannah Lund. At sixteen, he became emancipated and supported himself by working on a small dairy farm while completing high school.
In high school, Bob met the love of his life, Dolores Burt, on their first date on Valentine’s Day 1950. They married in 1955 and together raised four children, of whom he was deeply proud. Bob spent 25 years with McCall Oil, advancing from truck driver to branch manager, before serving as Maintenance Supervisor for Franklin County until his retirement in July 1999.
Outside of work, Bob was an active member of the Ye Old Car Club, where he restored vintage automobiles, fostered community appreciation for classic cars, and formed many lasting friendships. He cherished time spent with family and friends, especially camping and fishing.
Bob is survived by his wife of more than seventy years, Dolores; daughter Debbie Spurling (Dave); sons Bob Jr. (Debbie), Ron (Pam), and Steve McClary; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Erlene McClary; brother-in-law Darrell Burt (Joyce); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lois Moller, brother-in-law Duane Moller, brother William (Bill) McClary, sister-in-law Jackie Burt, and brother-in-law Len Burt.
