Preserve forever →Robert Karl Englund
Spearfish, SD
Robert Karl Englund, 73, of Spearfish, passed away at his home on February 18, 2026. Born on June 5, 1952, in Milbank, South Dakota, to Lester and Lorinda (Jensen) Englund, Bob grew up in LaBolt, South Dakota, with his siblings Larry, Kay, Jo Ann, and Dennis.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1970 and served his country with pride for 26 years. During his service, he married Judy Weber, and they had a son, Jeffrey. The couple later separated. He later married Pamela Pleinis, and after retiring from the Army, they moved to Spearfish to be near family and friends, settling in the Black Hills.
Always active, Bob found retirement difficult and pursued his passion for carpentry, working for Ainsworth-Benning for more than ten years. He later returned to part-time work as a groundskeeper at Elkhorn Ridge Golf Club, where he enjoyed golfing and the company of friends.
Bob is survived by his former wife, Pam Englund; his son, Jeff Englund, and wife Amber; his brother, Larry Englund; his sisters, Kay and her husband Jeff Krakow, and Jo Ann and her husband Steve Musch; his granddaughter, Emily and her husband James Halvorson; his grandson, Justin Englund; his two great-grandchildren, Knox and Briar, who brought him immense joy; and his dear friend, Carolyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Lorinda; his brother, Dennis; and his sister-in-law, Marianne Englund.
He will be remembered for his ornery sense of humor, strong spirit, and the laughter he shared with everyone around him. His quick wit and playful personality left a lasting impression on family and friends alike. In true Bob fashion, he would want to be remembered with a smile, a good story, and plenty of laughter.
