Robert “Bob” Lewis Jenkins, age 76, of Wayne, passed away on March 9, 2026, at Providence Medical Center.
Born on April 11, 1949, in Hartington to Lewis John and Florence Hazel (Frink) Jenkins, Bob graduated from Winside High School and Southeast Community College in Milford. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970 and was awarded the Purple Heart. On January 30, 1971, he married Sharon Gail Munson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Wayne. The couple made their home in Wayne for the rest of their married life. Bob worked as a mechanic for Fredrickson Oil and later for Heritage Industries until his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob found great joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Amy Schwartz (Mitch Scranton) of Battle Creek and Chad (Christian) Jenkins of Bellevue; three grandchildren, Jacob Schwartz and Ashlynn Schwartz of Norfolk, and Archer Jenkins of Bellevue; his siblings, Janice Pearson of Casper, Wyoming, Jim Jenkins of Castilian Springs, Tennessee, and Karen (Marlin) Barnes of Evanston, Wyoming; and several nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Florence Jenkins; his wife, Sharon, in 2012; and his in-laws, Lawrence “Bud” and Rita (Winnepenninkx) Munson.
