Robert J. "Coach" Wargo

Robert J. "Coach" Wargo

Bensalem, PA

Robert J. “Coach” Wargo, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and educator, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. Born on April 9, 1952, in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, to the late Peter and Irene (née Masinick) Wargo, he dedicated his career to teaching and inspiring young learners in the Bensalem School District, where he touched the lives of countless students.

Coach earned two master’s degrees after attending Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha in 1970, as well as Trenton State College and Gwynedd Mercy University. Beyond the classroom, he founded the Bucks County Challenger Flag Football and Cheerleading program, creating opportunities for inclusive community sports. He also coached at Bensalem and Neshaminy schools, finding great joy in guiding young athletes.

An avid Philadelphia sports fan, he enthusiastically supported all local teams and served as security for the Philadelphia Phillies. He loved to travel, especially to the beaches of Virginia Beach and Ocean City, Maryland, where he enjoyed the sun and surf.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan Wargo; his daughter, Laura Koonce (Nathan Koonce); his sons, Keith Knapp and Michael Knapp; his daughter, Natalie Wargo; and his cherished grandson, Ayden. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Davidson. Coach’s warmth, laughter, and lifelong commitment to family, education, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
