Robert J. Riesterer III

August 17, 1951 March 5, 2026

Menasha, WI

Robert J. Riesterer III, age 74, of Menasha, passed away at his home on March 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 17, 1951, in Keshena to the late Robert and Eleanore (Otradovic) Riesterer Jr., Bob lived a life defined by service, dedication, and quiet strength.

Drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War, he served honorably as a military police officer in Italy and continued in the Army Reserves for a total of 36 years. While stationed at Fort McCoy, he was recognized for heroism after saving a fellow service member from drowning. Following his military career, Bob spent 20 years as a police officer with the Kimberly Police Department and later the Fox Valley Metro Police Department, where he was known for his integrity, fairness, and genuine concern for others. He later drove a school bus for Lamers Bus Lines and St. Mary Catholic Schools for about 14 years, becoming a familiar, reassuring presence to generations of children.

Outside of work, Bob was a devoted Green Bay Packers season ticket holder and a beloved master tailgater whose game-day gatherings were filled with warmth and camaraderie. He was also an active member of the Scarlet Guard American Legion Color Guard and Wrightstown American Legion Post 436, continuing his lifelong commitment to community and service. To those who knew him, Bob was dependable, generous, and always willing to lend a hand.

He is survived by his wife, Kelly Riesterer; son, Robert “Robbie” Riesterer IV; siblings Mike “Chiefy” (Mary), Lynn, Mick (Sandy), and Sue; father-in-law Dale Laurin Sr.; brother-in-law Dale Jr. “Bunky” (Sharon) Laurin; sister-in-law Kerry Laurin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Eleanore Riesterer Jr.; brothers Dustin Dickenson and Jeff Riesterer; and mother-in-law Sis Laurin.
