Robert J. Ganusko, 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on March 4, 2026. He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Janice (Clark) Ganusko; their children, Robert Ganusko, Jr. and partner Denise Swenson, and Linda Wheeler and husband Duncan Baum; grandchildren and their spouses, Brandi-Leigh Croteau and Jimmy, TJ Ganusko and Katie, Stephen Ganusko and Elena, Shane Wheeler and Lynette, Lauren Fillios and Bobby, and the late Erin Lee Wheeler; great-grandchildren Grace, Cadence and Ella Ganusko, Alexis, Tessa, and Erin Rose Wheeler, and Nico Fillios; step-great-grandchildren Jordan, Calvin, and the late Justin Fillios; and the extended Baum family. He also leaves his siblings Ronald Gregory and Frances Burns, along with generations of nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Frederick R. “Buddy” Wheeler and siblings Chesla Carlson, Mitchell Ganusko, Helen (Freddie) Burile, Jane Houston, and Mary Young.
Son of the late Francis and Adela (Soldinitis) Ganusko, Bob was born and raised on the family farm in Millis. From a young age he worked alongside his parents and siblings tending crops and cattle, and he graduated from Norfolk Agricultural High School with the Class of 1954. He spent his professional career as a union carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local #535, serving as foreman for Ablondi & Boynton Corporation and later as a member of North Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local #346. A humble and gifted craftsman, Bob was self-taught in woodworking, cabinetmaking, plumbing, and electrical work, skills he put to use renovating the family home from top to bottom. After retiring from the union, he worked part time at Balance Rock Farm. A lifelong farmer, he spent many contented hours cutting wood, haying fields, and caring for his animals, always eager to start up his beloved “Poppin’ John” tractor.
Above all, Bob was a devoted family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose quiet strength and generous spirit touched everyone who knew him.
