Blachowski, aged 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 8. 2026 after a long battle with lung cancer, diabetes, blood pressure and heart challenges but ultimately it was the pain of a broken heart of losing his wife, Patricia, after nearly 60 years of marriage this past November.Robert was born on November 7,1944 in Chicago to his mother, Vivian and father, Robert. Robert's father passed away when he was just a toddler and he grew up with his younger brother, Bill, and was raised by his mother, Vivian and grandmother, Clara. After graduation from Loyola University, Robert started his sales career in Chicago with the Carnation Company where he worked for 4.5 years. In 1971, Robert joined the M&M Mars Company where he excelled in multiple sales roles over the next 28.5 years before retiring in 1999.Robert met the love of his life, Patricia L. Spix during his grade school years and later went on to marry her in January 1966. Together they raised four children into adulthood, Robert Jr. (deceased 2014), Thomas (Tom), Timothy (Tim), and Tricia. Robert had 10 grandchildren with one from Tom (Adalynn - 10), six from Tim (Claire - 28, Kevin - 25, Nolan - 23, Kate - 20, Logan - 18, and Mary - 12) and three from Tricia (Megan - 23, Aimee - 21, and Lily -19)Robert's three loves in his life were books, golf and family. Robert could read two books a week where he could escape to far off places and immerse himself in different periods of history and amassed a library full of thousands of adventures. Golf was a passion of Robert's and anyone that played a round with him knows, it was never about the score, it was about the laughs, the stories and the time together. But ultimately, Robert's greatest love was family. From the early days of creating family memories with summer vacations in Michigan, Arizona, and California to his final months where he would share his love with all who came to see him, his depth and devotion for family truly created a lasting legacy of 4 children and 10 grandchildren who will forever be grateful for his love.Services for Robert will be held at 5pm on March 20th at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery. 6500 E Bell Rd., Scottsdale, AZ 85254 with a reception immediately following at the same location. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the American Diabetes Association Diabetes Research, Education, Advocacy | ADA.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
