Robert Gregory Hunter, age 74, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
A graduate of New Haven High School and Purdue University, Greg retired from Parkview Health in 2014. He was an avid photographer whose favorite images captured the many concerts he attended in his younger years. He loved sharing the stories behind his pictures of artists such as Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Robert Cray, The Rolling Stones, Willie Nelson, Yes, Sting, Elton John, ELO, George Harrison, REO Speedwagon, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin, and many others. He often joked that he paid for all that joy with the hearing he lost in later life.
Greg remained a devoted Cubs fan throughout his life and, in recent years, became an enthusiastic supporter of Caitlin Clark, enjoying watching her play for Iowa and the Indiana Fever. He took great pride in tending his yard and caring for his beautiful rose bushes. Always handy, he was quick to offer help to anyone who needed it. Yet those who knew him best understood that his greatest joy came from time spent with his three grandchildren, moments that brought him a happiness unlike any other.
Above all, Greg was a loving and devoted husband to Elizabeth Martin Hunter for forty years and a steadfast, caring father to his daughters. His stepdaughter considered him her true dad, cherishing the steady presence and quiet respect he showed throughout her life. He is survived by his daughters, Tara Shepherd and Tracy (Joe) Heathman; grandchildren, Tyler Taylor, Mariah Taylor, and Trevor Heathman; sisters, Sally (Mark) Summers and Laura Sanderson; three nephews, David (Shannon) Summers, Daniel (Christina) Summers, and Mike Summers; and four nieces, Suzanne Summers, Sarah (Dan) Selzer, Marcy (Andy) Sojak, and Sherry Summers.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Martin Hunter in 2020; his parents, Donald James Hunter in 2015 and Geraldine Hunter in 2010; his sister, Nancy Klerner in 2005; his aunt, Jane Hodgson (Dan); and his uncle, Edward Hunter.
