Robert "Bob" Howard Stewart

1947 — 2026

Bay City, MI

Bob passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Bay City Comfort Care at the age of 78. Born on December 31, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late Howard and Lorraine (Leider) Stewart, he grew up with a deep love for sports that would shape much of his life.

An avid sports enthusiast, Bob was proudly inducted into the Michigan Softball Hall of Fame. He coached his children in baseball and softball during their younger years and later officiated and umpired countless softball and basketball games throughout the Tri-City area. He also founded a golf league with members of his fastpitch softball group, enjoying more than two decades of friendly competition on the course. Above all, he took tremendous pride in his three grandchildren, especially his grandson who played Division I college baseball, and he cherished every opportunity to watch him compete.

Bob was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help others. If something needed fixing, he was the person friends and family turned to. He will be remembered as a dedicated father, grandfather, and loyal companion whose quiet strength and love for sports left a lasting impression on those around him.

He is survived by his sons, Rob Stewart and Jason (Lisa) Stewart; grandchildren Marlee (Reggie) Lindsey, Braxton Stewart, and Mason Stewart; sister Sue Wetters; special sister-in-law Gretchen (Rudy) Velasquez and several other in-laws; his loving companion Linda Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Andrea (Sutter) Stewart, and his mother- and father-in-law, Eileen and Emil Sutter.
