January 13, 1936— March 11, 2026
Pittsburg, KS
Robert H. Richardson, known to all as Bob, passed away at the age of 90 on March 11, 2026, at Comfort Care Home in Pittsburg, Kansas. Born on January 13, 1936, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Arthur and Alice (Robinson) Richardson, he moved with his family to the Pittsburg and Frontenac area in 1954. From a young age, Bob learned the craft of carpentry from his father and began working at the local bowling alley. Over the years, he held positions at Quincy Lumber, Menghini Packing House, Hull and Dillons, and in 1960 joined Foodtown, where he served as meat manager until the store became Ramey Supermarket. He retired in January 1998, then returned part-time for six years with Dick Pallucca in Frontenac. In his later years, Bob found great joy in family and friend cruises, lunches with friends, and visits to the casino, including a memorable cruise on his 80th birthday that reflected his lifelong appreciation for living fully.
Bob is survived by his former wife, Judy Richardson Byrd, and their children: Bobby (Lisa) Richardson, Jennifer (Gary) Bogle, Leeann (Bruce) Yeo, and Jimmy Richardson; stepdaughter Lisa McNamara; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley; brothers Don and Wayne Richardson; nieces Debbie and Mary Ann Richardson; and sons-in-law Tim Wheeler and John McNamara.
A graveside memorial service for Bob and Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Derek Harmon.
