Robert Glennan

September 7, 1941 March 12, 2026

Ridgefield, CT

Robert Glennan was a man whose legacy of love, humor, and unwavering faith continues to comfort and guide all who knew him. His sense of humor, moral compass, and joyful spirit remain alive in the memories of his family, especially the images of him dancing that still bring proud smiles.

Born on September 7, 1941, in Queens, New York, to Elizabeth Murray and Robert Paul Glennan, Bob was a loving husband and soul mate to Janet. He found the courage to ask her on a date as sophomores at Colby College and devoted the rest of his life to nurturing their bond until her passing three years ago. A devoted father, he always placed family above all else. Working in sales to provide for them, he turned routine family dinners into times of deep connection and laughter. As Grampy to his twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, Bob never stopped playing. His competitive spirit endured through baseball and basketball at Hotchkiss and Colby, cards and board games on family vacations, golfing under his age into his eighties with lifelong friends, games of H-O-R-S-E in the driveway, and always throwing a football on the beach with his grandchildren, including last summer.

A faithful parishioner at Sacred Heart/St. Patrick’s for sixty years, Bob lived his life in service to others. Voted “most pious” in high school, he mentored troubled teens, guided young adults on their spiritual paths, helped couples prepare for and sustain marriage, and cherished his men’s prayer group for decades. At eighty-one, he began volunteering at GrassRoots Academy in Danbury as a reading and homework buddy to elementary school children. His extended family and friends remember his belly laugh, welcoming nature, quiet voice, attentive listening, and how his abiding faith transformed their own lives and marriages.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Janet and his sister Nancy Barry. He is survived by his children, Karen and Joe, Kristin and Ross, Mary Beth and Chuck, and Michael and Tammy; his cherished grandchildren Matthew, Corey, Kelsey, Ben, Brian, Cara, Kyle, Corey, Julia, Michael, Ryan, Cashel, Lucan, Rowen, and Aiofe; his great-grandchildren Andersyn, Alasdair, and Maxwell; and many adoring nieces and nephews. After a valiant battle with illness, Bob died peacefully surrounded by family on March 12, 2026. Those who loved him are grateful for the care provided by Lindell of Right at Home and RVNA Hospice. Heaven has gained one of its best, and Bob was surely welcomed with the same warm bear hug he so generously shared with everyone throughout his life.
