Robert Eugene Reidt
January 29, 1930— March 7, 2026
Spokane, WA
Robert Eugene Reidt, 96, a retired lieutenant with the Spokane Fire Department, passed away on March 7, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on January 29, 1930, in Spokane to Francis and June Gray Reidt, he was a 1949 graduate of Rogers High School. On January 27, 1951, he married Norma Mantello, and the couple recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
In addition to his distinguished career as a firefighter, Bob worked as a journeyman glazier and built homes for his own family as well as a vacation cottage at Lake Cocolalla, Idaho. He was beloved for his positive outlook, quick sense of humor, and genuine care for everyone he met. Bob formed friendships easily and kept them for life, continuing to make new friends even in his final months. He enjoyed many hunting trips with fellow firefighters in Idaho and Wyoming, and in retirement he and Norma embraced the snowbird lifestyle in Arizona, where he gained local recognition as a champion pickleball player.
Bob is survived by his wife, Norma; daughters Robin (Steve) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Allison of Blaine, Washington; his brother Don (Gladys); four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Vernon “Sonny” Reidt.
