Robert “Bob” Ellis, 81, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, died Friday, March 6, 2026, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born on October 29, 1944, in Hurricane, West Virginia, Bob was the son of the late Alvin Ray Ellis and Lillian Croson Ellis. A United States Army veteran who served in Vietnam, he later worked for Phelps Dodge until his retirement. He was a longtime member of Southside Church of Christ, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Bob was also an active member of the Pennyroyal Honor Guard, devoting many hours to ensuring that fallen veterans received proper military honors.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Burch.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn Shaw-Ellis; his daughters, Angela (Larry) Barber of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Dana (Troy) Schilling of Concord, Arkansas, and Skylar (Johnny) Mitchell of Corbin, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Chantale Bush, Dustin Thomas, Brittany Brock, Caroline Reyes, T.J. Schilling, Lillian Mitchell, and Stella Mitchell; and four great-grandchildren.
