Robert Beard ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home on Mar. 10, 2026.Robert Elmer Beard Sr (87) was born March 20th 1938 in Rector, AR as an only child. He was a good and Godly man and went home to his Lord on March 6th, 2026.He was known by most family and friends as "Bob". He shared that in his youth his family were seasonal farmers. They traveled to California and back to Arkansas picking grapes to local cotton and strawberries, which he grew to hate to eat. When he graduated high school, he followed his first love B. "Ann" Ward to Rockford, IL. He claims it was for the job opportunity at National Lock but we all knew the truth. He began his career as a machinist working for different companies making tools, locks, and screws. This carried him Memphis, TN to Euless, TX. In his leisure time, he was known to love to tinker on cars, go hunting and fishing. He married his second wife, Alice Bryant and lived a comfortable life caring for her and her children until her death. After her passing, he was known to keep the roads hot. You could find him at Home, Burger King, or The Bryant Senor Center. He spent his time drinking coffee with his friends and shooting pool with his pool stick which it still sits in his back window. He would watch westerns and sneak cookies that were hidden in his shirt pocket to his great grandkids. He bumped into Nellie Burnett at Burger King but had seen her at the Senior Center and spent his last years with his love and her company. She would brighten his day and they would share a meal together. He was preceded in death: his father Wiliam Stanley Beard, his mother Emily Grace Stewart, his second wife Alice Bryant, his daughter Julie Ann Edwards, and his son Robert Elmer Beard Jr.He was survived by his granddaughter Emily Ann Ellis, and great granddaughters: E'Lyn Ann Ellis and Em'ry Myka Ellis.Graveside service will be held Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Mitchell Cemetery in Greenway, Arkansas.
