Robert Wright ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory - Columbia on Mar. 16, 2026.Robert Dwayne "Slugger" Wright, 55, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on March 14, 2026, at University Hospital in Columbia.Robert was born on February 3, 1971, in Columbia, Missouri. He attended Hickman High School in Columbia and was a member of the Blind Boone High Steppers Drill Team. He continued to help the team even after his graduation in 1993. Robert spent much of his professional life in the hospitality industry and was well known for his work as a banquet manager at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia, where he helped create memorable gatherings and events for many in the community.Robert was a bright person with a warm personality and an easy ability to connect with others. He was truly a people person who enjoyed conversation, laughter, and bringing others together. Those who knew him appreciated his welcoming spirit and the way he made people feel comfortable in his presence.In his free time, Robert enjoyed watching movies, cooking, and trying his luck gambling from time to time. He was known for his dancing and singing, and he always knew how to put on a show. More than anything, he valued time spent with the people he loved, and his family and friends meant the world to him.Robert is survived by his partner, William Dickerson Crandall of Texas; his father, Bruce Wayne Stephens of Columbia, Missouri; his brothers, Michael Wright and his wife Janet, and Malcolm Redmon; his bonus siblings, Celestyn and Terrish Griffith, and Derek Griffith Jr.; his nieces, as well as his great nieces and nephews; and his extended family.He is also survived by his aunts, Sheridan McQuitty, Karen (Cecil Jr.) Warren of Columbia, Alice Prince of Milwaukee, Peyton Jordan, Karen Jordan Ware of Columbia, and Arnita Jordan of Victorville, California; and his uncles, Maurice Jordan Sr., Marlon Jordan, Kevin Jordan, and Keon Jordan, all of Columbia, and Allen Jordan Sr. and his wife Joyce of Lee's Summit, Missouri, along with many cousins and family friends whose lives he touched.He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Jane Wright; his brother, Bruce Wayne Crum; his grandparents, Nettie Lee and Herbert Sr. Jordan and Hazel and William Wright; his step grandfather, Robert Leroy Wright; his cousin, David Washington; his aunt, Helen Wright; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, at Parker Millard Funeral Service in Columbia from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev.
