Robert George Dawkins, known affectionately as Bob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on July 14, 1938, in Wake Forest, North Carolina, to John and Agnes Dawkins, Bob was a man of kindness, integrity, and quiet passion who touched the lives of all who knew him.

He graduated from Kingston Senior High School in 1955 before serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. Bob spent more than five decades as a life insurance agent with Prudential, earning deep respect for his dedication to his clients and his unwavering professional integrity. His strong faith was central to his life, and he remained an active member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wake Forest. A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bob was a devoted supporter of the New York Yankees and New York Giants, and he followed college basketball with great enthusiasm, often sharing lively discussions about games and teams. He also found lasting enjoyment on the golf course, where he played with the same sportsmanship and honesty that defined his character.

Bob was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Joanne Carol Dawkins. Their loving marriage was evident to everyone around them. He is survived by his cherished nephews and nieces, Cindy Rains, Todd Shail, Scott Shail, Tim Shail, Matt Delaney, Tim Delaney, Mike Delaney, Jon Delaney, and Kimberly Dawkins, as well as his grandnieces and grandnephews, Katelyn, Alexis, Joseph, Zackary, McKenzie, Michaela, Finian, Aubrey, Anna, Connor, Caitlyn, Kara, Brianna, Courtney, Charlie, Audrey, and Owen. Through his marriage to Joanne, he was also blessed with brothers-in-law Richard and Chris, and sisters-in-law Kathleen and Jacquelyn.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John and Agnes Dawkins, his brothers Jack and Richard Dawkins, and his nephew Kenneth Dawkins. Those who knew him will remember his warm spirit, thoughtful nature, and the genuine care he showed to family and friends.
