Robert R. “Bobby” Curtis, Jr. 81, of Washington, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at his residence.
He was born on September 2, 1944, in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Robert R. and Alice Littleton Curtis Sr. He married Linda Hathcock on September 18, 1992, in Washington.
Surviving family members include his wife, their children Leslie (Dave Arnold) Auman of Eureka, Illinois; Robert (DeDe) Curtis III of Lockport, Illinois; Lisa (Bob) Johann of Washington. He also leaves four grandchildren—Nicole Camp, Scott Camp, Ellie Curtis, and Molly Curtis—and two great-grandchildren, Payton and Violet, with a third great-grandchild expected. Additionally, he is survived by one sister, Janet (Ron) Wright of Washington, and one brother-in-law, Bill Miller of Edwards, Illinois, and a host of nieces and one nephew. His parents and sister Barb Miller preceded him in death.
He was an honorably discharged U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam Conflict. He worked as an inspector at Caterpillar Tractor Company, retiring in 1994 after a 30-year career.
He found great joy in fishing, woodworking, and golfing, and was particularly proud of his six holes-in-one. He also liked watching western movies. Bobby kept a youthful spirit, valued time with friends and family, and was deeply devoted to his granddaughter’s sports.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington. Visitation will be from 11 am until the time of the service. Burial will take place at a later date at Glendale Cemetery in Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be given to the VFW Post 9016 in Washington. Mason-White Funeral Home in Washington has been entrusted with arrangements.
