Robert "Bob" Charles Traugott

Robert "Bob" Charles Traugott

October 7, 1948 March 9, 2026

Charlottesville, VA

Robert “Bob” Charles Traugott, 77, of Charlottesville, Virginia, passed away on March 9, 2026, held in the tender embrace of his wife of 44 years, Tricia Traugott. Born on October 7, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late James and Donna Traugott, Bob carried a deep appreciation for his German, Irish, and English heritage and took quiet pride in his descent from John Dod (Dodson), who arrived at Jamestown aboard the Susan Constant in 1607.

A proud graduate of Texas State University, Bob served honorably in the United States Navy before building a successful career in regional corporate sales. He later moved his family to Charlottesville, where he became a trusted presence in the local real estate community. Throughout his life, Bob’s faith in God remained his guiding light, and he was deeply committed to leaving a legacy of love and belief to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Bob cherished history, especially Texas history and the Civil War, and often quoted his favorite lines from Lonesome Dove. He found joy in simple pleasures: holding his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relaxing by the fire pit with a glass of Virginia wine, and sharing laughter, hugs, and warm pats on the back. A true gentleman with a twinkle in his eye and a ready sense of humor, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who made a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Tricia Ann Traugott; his mother-in-law, Beatrice Butcher; his children, Wes Traugott and his wife Shelly, Kurt Traugott and Jenifer, Brian Traugott and Carolina, and Jillian Traugott Curran and her husband Taylor Curran; his siblings John and Sara, Mary Meriwether, Paul, Tom, Dino and Cynthia, and Joe Traugott; and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob lived his life fully, often echoing the spirit of his favorite quote: “It’s been quite a party, ain’t it.”
