Robert Charles North

March 11, 1951 March 12, 2026

Wheeling, WV

Robert Charles North, known to all as Bob, passed away peacefully at his home in Wheeling, West Virginia, on March 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was 75 years old. Born on March 11, 1951, in Washington, Pennsylvania, to the late Donald Avery North and Velma (Guess) North, Bob graduated from McGuffey High School in 1969 and went on to study at the National Auto Diesel College.

In 1996, Bob married the love of his life, Bonnie (Lilley) North, and together they shared 30 cherished years. He worked at Millcraft Steel Mill until his retirement, then returned to the workforce as a truck driver, first for Dandy and then for 17 years with Shawarman Trucking, where he formed a lasting friendship with Chuck Ullom. Bob also served as assistant chief of the West Alexander Fire Department and as a deacon at West Alexander Presbyterian Church.

Above all, Bob treasured time with his family. He took special delight in his grandchildren, particularly Kiersten Jones, whom he called “Sunshine,” and Levi Garrett, his “little man.” He enjoyed farming, woodworking, restoring old cars and tractors, and looked forward each year to the West Alexander Fair, where he loved catching up with friends and sharing stories from his childhood with his siblings, parents, and grandparents. His warmth and sense of humor ensured that laughter was never far away when he was present.

Bob was a proud and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; his children Carl North (Stephanie), Robert C. North, Jr. (Trudy), Evey Jones (Nick), Yvette Duffield (Cory), and Valerie Dillie (Ben); twelve grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his siblings Dave North, Donald Avery North, Jr. (Michelle), and Susan Kempes (Ross); brother-in-law Greg Lemasters; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is now reunited with his parents, his sister Rebecca Lemasters, and his stepdaughter Lisa Lilley.
