Robert "Bob" Chapman, Sr.

Robert “Bob” Chapman, Sr., 86, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 21, 1939, in Richmond, Virginia, to Granville and Dorothy Batten Chapman, Bob married the love of his life, JoAnn Dobb, on June 1, 1963, in Richmond. Together they shared a devoted marriage of 62 years built on love, family, and kindness.

Bob spent 41 years in the banking industry, beginning with Virginia Trust Company and continuing through several mergers before retiring from Bank of America. He genuinely enjoyed his work and the many relationships he formed throughout his career. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He rarely missed his grandsons’ activities and events, always cheering them on with pride and enthusiasm. Known for his generous spirit, Bob was quick to help others, whether through handyman projects around the house or offering assistance wherever it was needed.

Warm and positive, Bob had a special gift for making people smile. His kindness, humor, and willingness to lend a hand left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his beloved wife, JoAnn Chapman; his son, Robert E. Chapman, Jr.; his daughter, Kimberly Chapman Beamon and her husband Andy; and his cherished grandsons, Thomas, William, and Charles Beamon. The love and memories he created will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.
