Robert Eugene Butz, 82, of Hampstead, Maryland, passed away on March 14, 2026, at BridgingLife Hospice – Dove House in Westminster, Maryland. Born April 11, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Robert and Frances (McKenna) Butz. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann (Bickford) Butz, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.Robert spent time serving in the Army Reserves. He worked for many years with the phone company, where he dedicated himself to his trade and colleagues. He had a deep love for the outdoors and country life. Robert enjoyed horseback riding, farming, and working the land. His days were often spent baling hay, tending the garden, and raising pigs, cows, and horses. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, including relaxing on the swing with his wife. Robert was known for his creativity and ingenuity and proudly referred to himself as the inventor of the crew cab truck.Surviving him are his two daughters, Kathleen K. (Timothy) Pierce and Deborah A. (Joseph) Purdy; and three grandchildren, Sinjin, Robert, and Peyton. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Joanne Yingling.The family will accepts guests during visitations held Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 PM & 7:00-9:00 PM at Eline Funeral Home, 934 South Main St., Hampstead, MD 21074. A funeral service will begin Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 11:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hampstead Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Bridging Life Hospice, 292 Stoner Ave., Westminster, MD 21157.
