Robert Bryant “Bobby” Bunch, 69, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in the Chapel of Hart’s at the Cupola. The family will greet friends following the service.
Son of the late Harold Anderson Bunch and Mary Elizabeth Jenkins Bunch, Bobby was born in Macon on August 2, 1956. He graduated from Mount de Sales Academy and later attended Georgia Tech, where he earned two bachelor’s degrees in industrial management and electrical engineering. Bobby worked as a software engineer at Robins Air Force Base for 34 years before retiring.
An athletic and adventurous spirit, Bobby had a deep love for the water and the outdoors. He was an active scuba diver with more than 3,000 dives and was a proud member of the International Scuba Club, which he led for over 20 years. In addition, he was a NAUI dive instructor. His passion for diving and exploration brought him great joy throughout his life.
Bobby is survived by his brother, Harold Anderson “Andy” Bunch, Jr. of Macon, Georgia; sister, Ellen B. Cleghorn (Ken) of Warner Robins, Georgia, best friend, Valerie Freeman of Macon, Georgia; and his beloved cat, Taz.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Susan Bunch Reid.
