Veltri, 84, of Lancaster, South Carolina, passed away on March 4, 2026.Born on December 1, 1941, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of the late Anthony Veltri and Desdemona D'Innocenzo Veltri.Bob earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the West Virginia University School of Medicine in 1969. He dedicated more than 45 years to a distinguished career in both private industry and academia, ultimately retiring as a professor from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Bob was passionate about his profession and found great joy in mentoring and teaching students. Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to medical science and held seven patents for diagnostics and treatments.Bob's career took him and his family to many places, including Morgantown, West Virginia; West Chester, Pennsylvania; Gaithersburg, Maryland; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Baldwin, Maryland.Bob met the love of his life, Suzanne Jones, in Youngstown, OH, and together they shared a beautiful marriage of 63 years. Their life together was filled with adventure, friendship, and deep devotion to family.Outside of his professional accomplishments, Bob lived an active and fulfilling life. He enjoyed coaching little league football, staying physically active, sailing, scuba diving, traveling, and spending cherished time with his family and friends.Bob will be remembered as a renowned scientist, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a man whose curiosity, intellect, and kindness touched many lives. He was of the Catholic faith.He was preceded in passing by his cherished daughter Katherine Marie Veltri. He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Jones Veltri; his son, Anthony Veltri; his grandchildren, Rachel Veltri and Angela Veltri; and his nephews, Benedict Veltri and Gregory Veltri, as well as an extended family he adored.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army, or Catholic Charities USA.Read The Full Obituary
