Robert C. “Bob” Kowanes Sr. of Central Square, New York, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on April 8, 1941, in Oneida, New York, to the late Otto and Arlene “Tiny” Kowanes, Bob lived a life marked by humor, warmth, and devotion to family.

He married Luella Taber on April 21, 1962, and later married Anna Preston on September 29, 1984, at St. Mary’s Church in Cleveland, New York. For more than forty years, Bob worked at Intex Wire Mill, later known as United Wire Technologies. He possessed a jocular personality and took genuine pleasure in making others smile. Bob enjoyed visiting the casino, playing slots and bingo, poker with friends, fishing, and the company of pretty girls. Above all, he was a loving husband and father whose sense of humor brought joy to everyone around him.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Otto James Kowanes and Thomas “Skip” Kowanes of Cleveland, New York, and his grandson Juan Tippers Jr. of Quincy, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Anna Kowanes; his children Bonnie Ruettermann of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Robert “Bobby” Kowanes Jr. of Booneville, New York, Michele (Juan) Tipper of Quincy, Florida, Arlene (Bill) Wilson of Syracuse, New York, and Amanda (Shane) Carrick of Cleveland, New York; his brother Frederick (Judy) Kowanes of Cleveland, New York; nine grandchildren, Mike Taber, Joey Ruettermann, Justin Tipper, Stephanie Lyons, Grayson Smith, Tyler Wilson, Madison Wilson, Mike Kowanes, and Garrett Carnick; as well as several great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
