August 19, 1933— March 11, 2026
Johnson City, NY
Robert A. Sheredy, 92, of Johnson City, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026, just one week after his beloved wife, Mary Joan. He and Mary Joan are now reunited, their love story continuing in the arms of God.
Born to Andrew and Marie Sheredy, Bob was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, James and William. He is survived by his daughters Kathleen Gage and Joanne Matias; his sons Michael Sheredy and Thomas Sheredy and daughter-in-law Kathryn; his sister-in-law Beverly Sheredy; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Bob built two homes for his family and cherished family trips to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey, as well as gatherings with relatives in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania. A longtime member of St. James Church in Johnson City, he served as an usher and worked with the bereavement luncheon group. He was also a member of the Johnson City Knights of Columbus. After 38 years with IBM, where he belonged to the Quarter Century Club, he retired. In his younger years, he served in the Army National Guard. He found simple joys in listening to polkas on Sundays and sharing traditional Brozzetti’s pizza dinners with his family on Sunday evenings.
The family is especially grateful to daughter Joanne for the selfless and loving care she provided her parents in their later years. Bob will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who found deep fulfillment in faith, family, and quiet service to others.
