January 1, 1933— March 6, 2026
Mashpee, MA
Robert Anthony “Bob” Pinelli, born in 1933, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026, at the age of 92 at his home in Mashpee, Massachusetts.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Barbara Ann Pinelli; his son Robert J. (Lisa Steers) Pinelli; his grandchildren Brandon and Tristan Pinelli; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Antoinette; his brother Vincent and Vincent’s wife Angela; his brother Ralph; his sister-in-law Frances Giuliani; his brother-in-law Joseph Giuliani, Joseph’s wife Rose Marie Giuliani, and Joseph’s son Mark Giuliani; and his brother-in-law Alfred Giuliani.
Bob rose from humble beginnings in the Bronx to build a successful life through his financial savvy, strong work ethic, and deep sense of responsibility. A self-employed TV and radio repairman, he co-owned a small repair shop with his brother Vincent and worked six days a week to provide for his family. Exceptionally handy, he tackled countless repairs and upgrades around his home and vehicles, with a special talent for electrical work and a habit of adding indicator lights to appliances he felt needed them. He generously shared his time and expertise, helping friends and family with television repairs and electrical projects whenever they asked.
Bob served ten years in the New York Army National Guard in the Bronx as a Radio Section Chief while running his repair business. In 1965, after a long and determined courtship, he married Barbara Ann Giuliani and settled with her in a modest split-level home in Harrison, New York, where they raised their son Robert J. and lived out their version of the American Dream. He held a lifelong passion for astronomy and science, eagerly reading magazines on those subjects and sharing views of the heavens through his Celestron telescope, especially delighting in showing guests the rings of Saturn. He passed this love of discovery and technology on to his son, who excelled in math and science, went on to college, and built a successful career in engineering.
Though not given to open sentimentality, Bob expressed his love for Barbara Ann daily and made his deep affection for his family unmistakably clear through his actions. Proud of his son and grandchildren, he shared his sense of humor and his inability to take himself too seriously. Affable and mild-mannered, he enjoyed laughter, offered his wisdom freely, and valued friendships above philosophical differences. Later in life he developed a fondness for vodka martinis, a gentle influence from his brother-in-law Joe, and family gatherings were never complete without raising one in toast to health and happiness. His kindness, generosity, frugality, and unwavering devotion to his family remain his enduring legacy.
