RL Sanders

RL Sanders, 82, of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away on March 6, 2026, at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. Born on March 27, 1943, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late James E. and Mozella (Ransom) Sanders, he spent most of his life in Ravenna, where he became a dedicated community activist. He founded and led Minorities United to Save America and was a longtime member of the United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith.

A man of strong conviction and deep community ties, RL cherished his family above all. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy, in 2022, his daughter Tiffanie Russell, his siblings Joe Nathan Sanders, Jimmy L. Sanders, Leo Sanders, and an infant sister, as well as his parents.

He is survived by his children Ronald (Misty) Waddy, Curtis (Amber) Taylor, Sarita Jones, Rashid Carter, James Carter, Chynell (Robert) Moore, Marsha Hill-Coleman, Vidella Giles, and Jeramy Woolwine, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings Elder James E. Sanders, Doris J. Campbell, Alma Coney, Ernistine Jones, Eddie L. Sanders, Douglas Maurice Sanders, Paulette Jones, Jeffery Sanders, Marvin Sanders, Roger Michael Sanders, Mary A. Benedict, and Tyrone Sanders, who will carry forward his memory and legacy of advocacy and faith.
