Rita Moffett ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Dahlstrom Funeral Home - Oakes on Mar. 5, 2026.Rita Fay Moffett, 72, Cogswell, ND lost her battle with COPD, Wednesday evening March 4, 2026, at Royal Oakes Independent Living Center surrounded by her family. She was born on January 5, 1954, in Sioux Rapids, Iowa to Louis and Pauline Huffman.Rita married Homer Hubert Moffett on February 10th, 1972, in Forman, ND. They made their home in rural Cogswell, ND. Both Rita and Homer worked at Melroe Company in Gwinner, ND. Rita was appointed by the company as the 75th Ambassador and sent to Buchanan, MI for serving her fellow employees and community with merit. Rita worked in the cafeteria at Sargent Central High School for a short time before obtaining a job at Ben Franklin, Oakes, ND.Rita eventually was hired at Ptacek Financial Services in 1995 as the receptionist. Her welcoming smile was the first person to greet all Toni's clients. She retired in 2017 for a total of 25 years. Rita loved holidays and still brought Halloween candy to the office every year for the clients and their families.Rita loved gardening, doing crafts, baking, lake life and spending time with friends, but her family was the most important thing to her. At Leaf Lake Campground Rita was known for organizing crafts, scavenger hunts, and hiding little surprises in the campground for the kids. The children at the campground called her Grandma Rita. When the kids found a trinket in the Magic Tree, they always ran to show her what they'd found.The two most prized possessions were her gardens and grandchildren.She will be forever loved and missed by; her Husband Homer, Cogswell, ND, Daughters Jackee Moffett, Oakes, ND and Angel (Mike) Vedder, Moorhead, MN. Grandchildren; Bailee Fick, Fargo; Ronnie (Ashley) Fick, West Fargo, ND; Carleigh and Sydney Vedder, Moorhead, MN. Siblings; Mike Huffman, Linda (Gale) Rothschadl, Theresa Peters, Randy (Vicky) Huffman and many nieces and nephews.Rita is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Pauline along with her sister-in-law, LaVonne Huffman; brother-in-law, Bob Peters; and the beloved Doyle Moffett who lived with the family and was very special to them all.
