Rita Ellen Modesto

Rita Ellen Modesto passed away peacefully at her home on March 8, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on September 17, 1954, in Merced, California, she lived a life centered on caring for others and bringing people together.

Rita worked for many years as a medical assistant in San Francisco, spent time in the restaurant industry, and later earned her cosmetology license. A devoted wife and mother, she found deep fulfillment in nurturing her family and creating moments of connection and celebration. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Rubalcava, her infant son, Timoteo Modesto, her parents, Robert and Connie Gonzales, and her sister, Rosemary Carrasco.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Jess; her son, Tim (Sarah); her stepson, Jay Modesto; her stepdaughter, Angelina McCrady (Brian); and her many grandchildren, extended family members, and friends. Rita embraced life with a vibrant spirit. She loved live music, dancing to lively Mexican songs, cheering for the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants, and above all, gathering with family to celebrate.

Her family will carry her memory with them always, finding comfort in the knowledge that she continues to watch over them.
