Rita Ann Waldrup Winters

Rita Ann Waldrup Winters, 82, of Jonesville, North Carolina, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on October 12, 1943, to Lester and Helen Chappell Waldrup, Rita grew up in Jonesville and lived a creative life centered on the things she loved.

She spent her career in sewing and textiles before becoming a skilled seamstress who ran her own business. A dedicated quilter, basket maker, and cross-stitcher, Rita sold her handmade work at craft fairs and gift shops. She found joy in reading, caring for dogs, and creating beautiful things with her hands. Resourceful and imaginative, she brought warmth and artistry to everything she touched.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Avery Leon Winters, and her younger sister, Lestine Waldrup Wells. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Autumn Winters and Jason Morningstar, who will carry her memory with love.

In keeping with her wishes, no formal services will be held. Those who loved her will remember her by feeding birds, admiring wildflowers, and making something by hand.
