Riley Rose of Centerville, Indiana, passed away on March 12, 2026, at the age of 96. Born on May 12, 1929, in Jackson County, Kentucky, to Robert and Lillie Callahan Rose, he moved to Richmond, Indiana, in 1947. He worked at Johns Manville for 43 years before retiring and made his home in Centerville for more than five decades.
Riley was a talented, self-taught woodworker and beekeeper who took great pride in planting and tending a large vegetable garden each year. He enjoyed cruising in his red Firebird sports car and faithfully attended Holiness church services multiple times a week.
He is survived by his son, Robert Earl Rose of Dayton, Ohio, and his daughter, Melissa Rose (Nora Martinez) of San Diego, California; grandchildren Robert Travis (Susan) Rose and their son Robert Calloway of Lexington, Kentucky, Tyler (Arina) Rose and their children Tyler Jr. and Sophia Jill of Chicago, Illinois, Brock (Keri) Warner of Boise, Idaho, and Bryce Warner of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves a special nephew whom he raised as his own son, Vollie (Amy) Rose Jr., their son Payton (Cortney) Rose, and their granddaughter Scarlett of Centerville, Indiana, as well as his sister-in-law Carol (Richard) Patmore of Centerville. Riley is also survived by his brother, Mack Rose, and sister, Mae Witt, both of McKee, Kentucky, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Johnny Gilbert Rose, Merrill Rose, Charlie Rose, Willie Rose, Vollie Rose, Ida Kathmann, Ruth Baker, and Linda Hyatt.
