Rickey A Mills

September 24, 1955 March 9, 2026

Dubuque, IA

Rick A. Mills, 70, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away on March 9, 2026, at University of Wisconsin Hospitals. He was born on September 24, 1955, in Dubuque, the son of Elmer and Nancy (Sarazin) Mills.

Rick married the love of his life, Vickie Becker, on October 26, 1974, at St. Anthony’s Church in Dubuque. Their marriage lasted 51 years, built on a promise to never go to bed angry and to love one another through every season of life. He was a man of strong work ethic who partnered with his brother Randy in R & R Mills Trucking before later working for and retiring from Sitco.

Rick cherished his close-knit family. He was a devoted husband, father to his son Nathan, and proud grandfather to Blake O’Malley, Connor Mills, and his beloved “love bug,” granddaughter Kamryn, who always brought a smile to his face. He shared a special bond with his nieces and nephews, stepping in as a second father to his nephew Michael after the unexpected loss of his brother. Rick was deeply loved by his siblings, in-laws, and many friends, especially his best friend Scott. Kind and genuine, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and was known for his warm belly laugh, his hugs, and his daily words of affection.

He found joy in deer hunting, fishing, turtle hunting, boating, stock car racing, NASCAR Sundays, Thursday night pool with his brothers, caring for his pets, and simply being outdoors, especially watching the hummingbirds in the yard. Rick lived as a truly honorable man who worked hard and remained devoted to those he loved. He is survived by his wife Vickie, son Nathan, grandchildren Blake, Connor, and Kamryn, his siblings Judy (Larry) Wilsbach, Ron (Karen) Mills, Kenny Mills, Lisa (Gary) Hinderman, and Kevin (Sue) Mills, and his many in-laws and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Nancy Mills, brother Randy Mills, uncle Harry Mills, and in-laws Roger and Darlene Becker.
