Richardo Garcia ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Riverside Funeral Home - Albuquerque on Mar. 9, 2026.Richard passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, at the age of 85, following an extended illness, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.Richard Garcia, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother and uncle. He was regarded as a grandfather figure by many. Richard possessed a unique gift for forming meaningful connections, creating a circle of friends and extended family wherever he went.Family was the most important aspect of Richard's life. He enjoyed attending sporting events when his health allowed and was particularly fond of watching football. Richard's passing has left a profound sense of loss and sorrow among those who knew him.Born on September 9, 1940, in Anton Chico, New Mexico, Richard was the son of Julian Garcia and Florinda (Chavez) Garcia. Together with Sophie Trujillo, he raised four children.He was employed at the Tucumcari Truck Terminal for many years . He worked as a shuttle driver for Rezenberger, Inc., transporting railroaders. He also once served on the Vaughn Fire department.He is survived by his siblings: brothers Larry (June) Garcia of Albuquerque and Andres Garcia of San Diego, California, and sister Susie Garcia of Vaughn. His children: daughter Elaine (Jonathan) Garcia of Rio Rancho, NM; sons Francisco Garcia of Oklahoma, Richard(Rosie) Garcia of Lindsay, CA, and Jeffrey (Eva) Garcia of Santa Rosa, NM. 10 grandchildren, 8 Great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Richard also had numerous nieces and nephews.Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Florinda (Chavez) Garcia; grandson Todd Maynard Steele; sisters Otilia Flores and Frances Apodaca; and brothers Lee Garcia, Lupertro Garcia, and Ted Garcia. niece Denise Baca Castillo; Nephew Eric Garcia.Though Richard is gone from our presence, he will never be gone from our hearts and memories.We the family of Richard would like to extend our gratefulness to the staff at The Suites of Rio Vista and Legacy Hospice for the loving care and compassion from each of the staff members.Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be made at a later date.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
