It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Warren Popwell of Millbrook, Alabama, who passed away on March 7, 2026, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Erskine Popwell and Geneva Popwell; and his brother Don Popwell. He is survived by: his wife Karen Wallace Popwell; his children, Denise Young (Cain), Allison Barnett (Jason) and Michael Popwell (DeeDee); his siblings, Jimmy Popwell (Marie) and Linda Chandler; and his grandchildren, Molly Young, Luke Young, Ellen Barnett, Mary Grace Young, Callie Barnett, Ethan Popwell, Maggie Young, Collier Barnett, Bryce Popwell and Marlee Young. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brookside Funeral Home (3360 Brookside Dr, Millbrook, AL 36054). A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 13th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Vaughn Park Church of Christ (3800 Vaughn Rd, Montgomery, AL 36106).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama or the National MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society in honor of Rick.
