Richard Wallace Stalcup, age 86, of Borger, Texas, died on March 9, 2026. He was born on March 28, 1939, in Cochran County, Texas, to W.O. and Velma (Hall) Stalcup. He married Nora Davis in Morton on May 31, 1966.
A 1957 graduate of Bledsoe High School, Wallace was born again at the Bledsoe Baptist Church at the age of 14. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963 and later worked in law enforcement as a police officer in Lubbock and as Cochran County Sheriff for many years. He also farmed for two decades. A man of deep faith and conviction, Wallace was a longtime deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Gideons, the NRA, the American Legion, the Sheriff’s Association of Texas, and Riverview Baptist Church in Borger.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nora; his son, Sean Stalcup; two sisters, Louise McCaslan and Dorthea Ruth Tanner; and a brother, L.C. Stalcup.
Wallace is survived by his son, Rick Stalcup and his wife, Scarlett, of Fritch, Texas, and numerous grandchildren.
