Richard Stoddard ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Miller Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. - Victor on Feb. 26, 2026.Richard "Dick" W. StoddardRichard "Dick" W. Stoddard passed peacefully on February 25, 2026, just weeks shy of his 90th birthday. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anna Marie; his children, Diane (Drew) Crane, Dan (Karen) Stoddard, Marcia (Jim) Craib, and Tom (Michelle) Stoddard; and his grandchildren, Spencer (Anthony) Crane, Eliza (T.J.) Eilinger, Jeremy Craib, and Sarah Craib.Dick lived a life filled with joy and adventure. He grew up in Irondequoit, NY, the only child of William and Dorothy Stoddard. He made lifelong friends at Benjamin Franklin High School (Class of 1954) and spent weekends at Log Cabin Point on Honeoye Lake-a place that remained part of his life for more than 80 years. Waterskiing, boating, and time with family and friends continually drew him back. He was a longtime member of the Honeoye Valley Association and served several years on its Board of Directors.Dick earned an ROTC scholarship to study Business Administration at Syracuse University, where he joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, forming friendships that lasted a lifetime. After graduation, he proudly served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve.Following in his father's footsteps, Dick became a building contractor and operated R.W. Stoddard Co. for more than 50 years, helping countless customers realize their remodeling dreams. He passed that passion on to his sons, both of whom built careers in construction.Dick met Anna Marie at a party in 1961. She taught him to ski; he taught her to crew on his boat. Together they skied throughout the Northeast and sailed in the Flying Dutchman class out of Canandaigua Yacht Club. Married in 1965, they raised four children and the family's golden retriever, Reggie. When they outgrew the first home Dick built in Irondequoit, he found a retired apple orchard in Victor, NY, and built again. Victor remained their home for more than 50 years. To share his love of the outdoors with his family, Dick volunteered with the Ski Patrol at Hunt Hollow Ski Club for 24 years. Winter weekends meant loading up gear and a picnic basket and heading to the slopes-though he hadn't expected his son to be his first toboggan passenger.Camping adventures followed as well: a tent trips to Maine and the Adirondacks, a pop-up camper to Myrtle Beach and Florida, and eventually the comforts of an RV. In retirement, Dick and Anna Marie spent winters traveling in their motorhome to visit family on the West Coast and staying at RV parks in Florida.Throughout his life, Dick loved working with his hands-wood carving, tinsmithing, model sailboat racing, framing Anna Marie's jigsaw puzzles, and cooking. He was always creating.Dick was deeply loved by his "teetheart," Anna Marie, his children and grandchildren, and his lifelong friends. With his warm smile and caring heart, he leaves a legacy of love, craftsmanship, and adventure. He will be dearly missed.Family and friends may call Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miller Funeral and Cremation Services of Victor (301 West Main Street, Victor, NY 14564), with a funeral service to follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Boughton Hill Cemetery.Memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Hunt Hollow Ski Patrol c/o HHSC, 7532 Co Rd 36, Naples, NY 14512 or the Humane Society at Lollypop FarmTo plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
