Richard W. Roth

Richard William Roth, age 78, of St. Charles, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

Born on March 14, 1947, in Winona to William and Veida (Gensmer) Roth, Richard graduated from high school in 1965 and devoted his life to farming. He married Marcella Ann Sherman on April 27, 1968, and together they farmed and raised their family in rural St. Charles. A man of quiet faith, he attended St. Charles Bible Church and served on its board, as well as on the town of Saratoga board. In his younger years he received the Outstanding Young Farmer Award. Richard found joy in fishing, hunting, gardening, riding his motorcycle, and, in retirement, tending to his bees and producing honey. Above all, he cherished his family and took great pride in his grandchildren.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Marcy of St. Charles; his children, Sherry (Grant) Voth of Red Wing, Terrie Pierce of Wabasha, and Tina (Tim) Fliehr of Oronoco; his grandchildren, Paige (Joe) Krueger of Maple Grove, Katelynne Fliehr of Rochester, Owen Fliehr of Oronoco, and Ricky Thoren of Rochester; and his siblings, Roger (Karen) Roth of Houston, Minnesota, August Roth of Utica, and Delores (Paul) Moechnig of Lake City.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings, Tony Roth and Julie Nelson, and his son-in-law, Rick Pierce.
