He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Stedman Wimbish and Sallie Edwards Wimbish Widman. He is survived by: his wife Sue Ellen Wimbish; his former wife Dorothy Tyndall Wimbish; his children, John Wimbish (Sandra) and Caryl Lewis (Charles); his grandchildren, Kelly Lewis (Chloe), Emily Wimbish, David Wimbish (Blake), Brad Lewis (Sarah), Robert Wimbish and Christiane Carson (Luke); his stepchildren, Katie Saunders (Matthew), Andy Calloway (Laura) and Preston Calloway (Tiffany); his stepgrandchildren, Andrew Saunders, Liam Saunders, Matt Saunders, Collin Calloway, Benjamin Calloway, Maxwell Calloway, Havanese Emma and Sir Winnie; Leona Carson, Madison Lewis, Makenna Lewis, Ivy Wimbish, Cillian Carson and Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the Clemmons Moravian Church (3535 Spangenberg Ave, Clemmons, NC 27012). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, March 12th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Stuart Cemetery (108 Chestnut Ave, Stuart, VA 24171).

Memorials may be made to Clemmons Moravian Church or to Trellis Supportive Care of Winston-Salem, NC.
