October 12, 1952— March 7, 2026
Youngstown, OH
Richard Sharpe of Youngstown passed away peacefully on March 7, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley after a lengthy illness. Born on October 12, 1952, to Albert Sharp and Mary DeMarco Sharp DeLost, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, the late Frank DeLost. Known to many as Rick, he possessed an engaging personality that drew friends and acquaintances throughout his life. He had a deep love for rock music and played drums for more than six decades. Though he lived in Florida, Texas, and Youngstown, he always considered the Nebo neighborhood in Struthers his true home.
Rick took particular pride in having been a contestant on Cash Explosion. He enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, where he left a winner several times after hitting Black 15 on the roulette wheel. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge.
He is survived by his adored granddaughter, Kaydence Sharpe; his brother Bob (JoAnne), who remained by his side until the end; nephews Justin and Scott (Bethany) Sharp; great-nephew twins Calvin and Brandon Sharp; his lifelong best friend Anthony Centofanti; and his son, Richard Sharpe Jr. Rick seldom said goodbye, preferring instead his familiar farewell, “Later for you.” Those who loved him will carry that spirit forward, remembering him with full hearts.
