January 5, 1948 March 8, 2026

Alexandria, MN

Richard Seibert, known affectionately as Dick, passed away peacefully at home on March 8, 2026. Born on January 5, 1948, to Merle and Erna Seibert in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, he was one of four boys. He graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1966. Dick married Susan Christensen in 1967; together they had two daughters, Roberta (Bobbie) and Stacee. The family moved to Alexandria in 1971. In 1987, he married Sandee Halvorson, and they moved to Glenwood in 1990, where they lived for many years before retiring to Arizona in 2019. They returned to Alexandria in 2022.

A natural salesman, Dick began his career in high school selling shoes at JCPenney and went on to sell insurance, tools, and cars, finishing at Harbor Freight in Alexandria. He and Sandee owned Minnewaska Ford in Glenwood for many years. His children fondly remember him saying “Just bear with me” while working on sales deals. Dick held a strong faith and remained active in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church throughout his life, from refereeing Zion Lutheran basketball games during his daughters’ childhood to serving as one of the first members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, participating in men’s groups and Bible studies, and serving on church boards.

Dick loved the outdoors, finding joy in boating, fishing, golfing, and hunting. He especially cherished hunting and golfing with his grandson Hunter and attending Hunter’s baseball and football games. He and Sandee enjoyed traveling, spending several winters in California and Arizona. Dick also took pleasure in collecting, most recently amassing a large collection of Santa figurines.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Gene and Roger. Dick is survived by his wife Sandee, children Bobbie (Dean) Halvorson, Stacee (Dan) Jergenson, and Libby Halvorson, grandson Hunter Halvorson, brother Bruce Seibert, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
