Richard Canup ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Fraker Funeral Home on Mar. 15, 2026.Richard "Rick" Earl Canup, age 66, of Ten Mile passed away Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Ben Atchley State Veterans Home in Knoxville. Born on December 28, 1959, in Knoxville, he grew up in Kingston and graduated from Roane County High School in 1978, where he played baseball and football. After high school Rick joined the United States Air Force where he served his country proudly from March 1982 – May 1985 as an E-4 Sergeant. He loved working on the Flight Line as a Flight Line mechanic. Rick later enjoyed driving a wrecker while working for a wrecker service in Roane County. He also was an avid collector of lighthouses. Rick had made his home with his very devoted sister, Wendye Edgemon, who was also his guardian for approximately 25 years. Preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Lois Sauceman Canup.He is survived by sons & Daughters-in-law,Tyson & Crystal Canup of Kingston and Kyle & Taylor Canup of Knoxville; sisters & brothers-in-law, Wendye & Ronnie Edgemon of Ten Mile and Peggy & Dale Hayes of Ten Mile; grandchildren, Henry Canup of Kingston and Barrett Canup of Knoxville; nieces & nephews, Jonathan & Melissa Edgemon, Amanda & Shawn Reece, Lori & Scott Kennedy, Kelly & Brice Chapman, Joseph & Jody Hayes, Andrew & Megan Hayes; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family members and friends.The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Fraker Funeral Home. Family & friends will meet at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Kingston Memorial Gardens for a graveside service with Rev. Adrian Jones officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Roane County Honor Guard. Online register book can be signed at www.FrakerFuneralHome.net.
