Richard R. Dolan of Revere passed away on March 13 at the age of 86. Born and raised in Revere, he graduated from Revere High School and spent nearly his entire life as a proud resident of the city, with a brief period living in Nashua, New Hampshire before returning home.

Richard worked for many years as a telegrapher for Western Union, where he specialized in sports transactions and had the opportunity to work at Fenway Park and the former Boston Garden. He later served as a paddock judge at Wonderland Dog Track, a role in which he formed many lasting friendships. An avid animal lover, he remained deeply devoted to the care and well-being of animals throughout his life.

He was the beloved husband of the late June F. (Roach) Dolan. Richard leaves behind his devoted children, Tracy Dolan of Maine, Nicole George and her husband Spencer George of Nashua, New Hampshire, Matthew Dolan and his wife Alisha of Saugus, Kristine Dolan and her husband Patrick O’Shaughnessy of Nashua, New Hampshire, and the late Colleen Joy Dolan and her surviving wife, Elizabeth Mandell. He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Smith, Raymond Smith, David Porcaro, Christopher Barry, Cassandra Barry, Ava Dolan, Michael Dolan, James Mandell, and Andrew O’Shaughnessy, and the adored great-grandfather of Ariana Smith. He is also survived by his siblings William, Martin, Elizabeth “Barbara,” Mildred, Doris, and Edna, as well as many nieces and nephews.
