June 18, 1955— March 4, 2026
Caddo Mills, TX
Richard Paul Nelson, 70, of Caddo Mills, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2026. Born on June 18, 1955, in Greenville, Texas, to J.C. Nelson and Helen Graves, he spent most of his life in and around Caddo Mills. He worked for many years at OMi Crane Systems before retiring in 2012. A devoted son, Richard faithfully cared for his mother until her passing in 2023, showing great love, patience, and dedication.
Although he never married or had children of his own, Richard deeply cherished his family and friendships. He loved Jesus, reading the Bible, and watching Les Feldick Ministries. He found joy in meeting friends at the coffee shop each day, spending time with family, and attending a small home church with a close group of believers, including his sister. Those who knew him remembered that he was once quiet and secluded, but after finding the Lord, his life was transformed. His faith brought out a warmer, more talkative side and deepened his love for his family and others.
Richard is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Maxwell, Jimmy Nelson, Peggy Woodson, Joe Nelson, and Linda Ussery, along with many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous friends who will miss him dearly. His wit and unmistakable “crazy laugh” at family gatherings will be treasured memories for all who loved him.
