Richard “Dick” O. Fedt, age 85, of Watertown, South Dakota, passed away on March 9, 2026, at a local care center.
Born on February 6, 1941, in Watertown to Clarence and Hilda (Jurgens) Fedt, Dick grew up in the Bryant area. He attended Dixon Country School #4 through eighth grade and graduated from Bryant High School in 1959. He later spent a year at Wahpeton Trade School. Dick began his working life as a meat packer in Sioux Falls for eight years before embarking on a long career as a car salesman across the western United States. In 1991, while working at Krantz Auto, he met Mary Decker. The two fell in love and remained together from that time forward. In 1992, Dick purchased the roadhouse and grill in Kranzburg, South Dakota. Known for his outgoing nature, he made friends easily and was comfortable with everyone he met, often connecting with people at local gathering spots around town.
Dick is survived by his significant other, Mary Decker, of Watertown; two children, Tammy (Josh Jutting) Decker of Watertown and Stacey (Rhnissa) Decker of Lincoln, Nebraska; two nephews, Charles (Rose) Fedt of Renner, South Dakota, and Robbie (LaWanda) Fedt of Bryant, South Dakota; and one niece, Tami (Bert) Magstadt of Watertown.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Lyle Fedt, Donald Fedt, and Sandra Fedt.
