Richard Modeste

Richard Lyndon Modeste, a loving son and brother, passed away on March 3, 2026, surrounded by family and love. Born on December 16, 1968, in Trinidad and Tobago, Richard carried the warmth and spirit of his Caribbean homeland throughout his life. At the age of twelve, he migrated with his family to the United States, settling in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1981. He embraced his new life while holding fast to his deep faith, his love for family, and an irrepressible spirit.

Family was the center of Richard’s world, and his mother, Joycelyn, held a particularly special place in his heart. He found joy in watching and playing sports, earning trophies and medals that reflected his talent and dedication. A gifted artist, he also loved playing video games and never missed the vibrant Caribbean parades, where he could often be found enjoying the music and atmosphere in the park.

Richard was the oldest of five siblings. He was predeceased by his sister Lisa Modeste and is survived by his mother, Joycelyn Modeste, his father, Damascus Modeste, his sisters Dianne Modeste and Nikisha Modeste, and his brother Marlon Modeste. He also leaves behind six nieces and nephews, three grandnephews, one grandniece, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
