Richard Crowner ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Hiers-Baxley Funeral & Cremation Life Event Center - Buffalo Ridge on Mar. 9, 2026.Richard Lyle Crowner passed away on March 3, 2026, in Leesburg, Florida with his baby sister by his side.Richard was born in Crofton, Nebraska on October 14, 1942, and spent his early years on the family farm where he was his grandfather's pride and joy. His parents were Charles and Florence Crowner. The family moved to Illinois when he was seven, and he graduated from Kankakee High School. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy where he was accepted into the U.S. Navy Medical Corp.There he received his medical training that would provide a lifelong career in hospital laboratory work. He loved his work and was very involved with several professional associations from which he received many awards and recognition. Upon leaving the Navy, he moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which became his home. Richard believed in life-long learning and received his college degree in Management and Health Care services in 1988.Richard is preceded in death by his loving parents, his partner of thirty-five years, Ryland Reilly plus several rescue dogs.He is survived by his sister, Doris (Crowner) Garrett and her husband Thomas (The Villages, FL.) plus several cousins. The family was accorded cremation rights and per his wishes will hold a private graveside service in Ft. Lauderdale at a later date.Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Broward County or a charity of your choice.Richard was grateful for having a life filled with love and family and a career that gave him so much pleasure. Richard cherished his friends. He was a kind soul who always tried to be helpful and supportive to all those he knew. He will be missed.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
