He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Sr. Lowery and Flora Lowery (Campbell). He is survived by: his wife Cassandra; and his children, Richard Lowery Jr., Claudette, Yvonne Johnson (Ernest), Clyde McGregor (Christine), Monica Smith (Lamont), LaCleve Moon (Meg) and LaDondra Moon. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Wednesday, March 18th 2026 at the Glendale Cemetery (4909 University Ave, Des Moines, IA 50311).
