Richard Libro

April 4, 1956 March 11, 2026

Buffalo Junction, VA

Richard Libro of Buffalo Junction, Virginia, passed away at his home on March 11, 2026, at the age of 69. Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, in April 1956, Richard spent much of his life as a fisherman, clammer, and dock worker. He eventually retired from the sea and moved to Virginia to be closer to family, enjoy a warmer climate, and pursue his many personal interests.

A devoted beekeeper, he took great pleasure in canning fruits and vegetables from his garden. He also maintained a lifelong passion for trains and found deep satisfaction in caring for several rescued cats. Richard is remembered for his quiet competence, his love of the outdoors, and the steady way he showed care for those around him.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Robin French; his brother, Nick (Joe Horman); his sisters, Marina Libro (Rebecca Brashears) and Sandi Libro-Beller (Jeff Beller, deceased); and his paternal uncle, Vincent Libro, along with many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Allan and Angelina (Bertolino) Libro, and his wife, Lorraine (Bassiagani) Libro.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s honor may be made to the Lake Country SPCA.
