Richard L. Edwards
November 24, 1933— March 4, 2026
Pitchfork, NM
Richard L. Edwards was born on November 24, 1933, in Pitchfork, New Mexico, to Enid and Temple Edwards. He grew up surrounded by a large family of brothers and sisters and was deeply devoted to his many nieces and nephews.
On June 1, 1957, he married the love of his life, Donna Edwards. Together they raised three daughters, Tammy, LeighAnn, and Kimberly, and were blessed with 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Their hearts also held several “adopted” children and grandchildren whom they cherished as their own.
A true cowboy at heart, Richard was rarely seen without his cowboy hat. He worked hard throughout his life, beginning at age 10 farming wheat fields with his brothers. He later worked in the oil fields in Tatum, New Mexico, where he met Donna, and went on to become a skilled mechanic, welder, and backhoe operator. He spent 20 years with the Railroad and many years at Intel before retiring. In retirement he restored tractors, traveled, gardened, and devoted himself to time with family. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went.
Richard found joy in fishing, boating, camping, hunting, road trips, collecting tractors, playing his guitar, and solving puzzle trinkets. Above all, he loved Jesus, coffee, his family, his church family, country music, tractors, animals, and especially dogs. He passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 92.
